Questions
How safe is my API key or ChatGPT OAuth token?
Your credentials stay scoped to your own account. API keys are stored for your runtime path only, and ChatGPT Codex auth stays in your own private workspace state. Other Hermes users cannot access that data. If you want to stop using a credential, you can revoke or disconnect it from Dashboard at any time.
Do you train models on my conversations?
No. Your files, prompts, and outputs stay in your own private workspace directory, and other users cannot view them. For managed requests, traffic passes through Hermes' proxy for auth, quota, and billing, but the platform does not proactively inspect your personal data.
Can I switch tiers later?
Yes, anytime, no friction. Your bot, files, and history carry over.
What if I run out of free tokens?
Hermes pauses managed replies and shows upgrade or BYO options. Nothing is lost.
Why isn't Claude Pro a BYO option?
Anthropic recently moved Claude Code billing off the Pro subscription — you'd need to buy separate API credits. We don't want users to feel double-charged. We'll add it back when Anthropic simplifies this.
Will my OpenAI account get banned for using Codex with Hermes?
Your container is private and only uses your token for your own requests — architecturally identical to running Codex on your own VPS. We can't guarantee what OpenAI does, but the usage pattern is "your personal use". You can switch to an API key anytime if you'd rather not depend on Codex.
